In Modular Grid + Manipulating Hierarchy we learned to see typography in two ways: as visual elements in a two-dimensional composition and as information which represents a hierarchical organization. Emphasis was placed on establishing a clear visual hierarchy and exploring compositions that closely adhere to a given modular grid. The studies explored ways to use the modular grid, create alignments both vertically and horizontally, create tension, explore coding, explore grouping, and explore asymmetrical designs.
